Layer a Higher Meaning into Each Moment of Work

What’s stopping you from showing up fully for your work?

Oftentimes, it’s not “more” knowledge, training, or ideas. The greatest obstacle I've seen in people is fear:

Fear of making a mistake… looking bad to others… disappointing yourself… fear of rejection… discouragement… tedious work.

Consider this mistaken perspective that causes the fear:
You believe that the result matters a lot.

It occupies a lot of your energy.

You think that the moment is all about the project you’re working on… and therefore, your focus becomes attached to the results.

Consider this alternative…

In every moment of work, there's a much higher (or deeper) meaning.

Perhaps the truest meaning of this moment is not whether you get “good” results… or whether you’ll have it easy… or whether you’ll look good.

What the deeper meaning is, will depend on your life philosophy. There are multiple good answers.

How would you respond to this question:

"What is the higher meaning of each moment, that is more important than what's apparent on the surface?"

Here are 3 different philosophies.

I’d love to know which one you resonate with.

Philosophy 1: GOD

Imagine that you have the most loving and wise parent in the universe.

God is unconditionally loving, omnisciently wise… and happens to be your real parent!

God wants you to experience the deepest joy in this moment…  in every moment…  abiding joy and love…  even when you are working on “hard” or “tedious” or “scary” work.

No matter what, however well or “badly” you live life, you are always loved.

You are a child of GOD.

You are completely protected in spirit. Your destiny is Heaven, and there is no possibility of you screwing that up! God’s got your back completely.

Sure, you may take a longer and more winding road… but the protection and presence of God is available to you in every moment of your journey.

No matter the task, there is always the possibility of experiencing a higher joy…  a deeper peace… an all-pervasive love that can change everything for you.

Every day, be willing to reconnect and to stay open to Spirit. Each day, be willing and open to experience God, whether a little or a lot!

Philosophy 2: Soul Evolution

You are here on Earth School to evolve your consciousness, your soul.

The stuff you do, the tasks on your to-do list, no matter how “important” or “urgent”, matters far less than the opportunity each moment offers for your soul’s growth.

Your calling is to be willing in every moment to notice what soul growth opportunity is available. To be open to that experience, whatever it may be.

There is profound and unlimited hope for you, and every other soul, because we are on an inevitable path toward greater wisdom, love, and creativity.

It’s impossible to screw it up. Your destiny is protected and guided. Simply stay open and willing, no matter the task or experience in front of you.

You are always on a path of growth towards ultimate goodness.

Philosophy 3: YOLO

You Only Live Once.

Who knows what happens afterwards?

In this life, results aren’t guaranteed, no matter how hard or “smart” you work. So you might as well enjoy the journey!

What's the point of suffering through tasks, or being afraid of them? You may get a “good” result one day, yet on another day the exact same action might create a “bad” result…

The more you live, the more you realize that there are too many factors outside your control.

Change happens rapidly in society, technology, the market, and even in your own biology. It’s impossible to accurately predict the results you’ll get. So relax within yourself, ok?

What can you reliably count on? It’s only this: that you always have a choice — in every moment — to keep returning to a mindful calm and joy.

Think about it:

Nothing truly matters in life, that you can actually control, except your personal reaction in each moment.

Sure, you’ll want to keep doing tasks that increase the probability of achieving future “goals”... but along the way, why not practice mindful happiness? That is the true secret of every day.

Whichever viewpoint you adopt, the core message is unanimous:

The higher meaning of each moment is joy.

It’s not the email newsletter you have to write; it’s not the webpage you have to make perfect; it’s not the course you have to create; it’s not the scary presentation to prepare for; it’s not the tedious administrative work to get through.

The meaning that can be experienced in any task, in every moment, is the joy that is available.

Because it is of such supreme importance, the purpose of each moment is to first, and foremost, bring that higher state of being into your awareness.

Your state is your top priority.

Which of the 3 philosophies above resonate with you? I encourage you to write it down.

Or, write your own.

Then sincerely reflect on it regularly.

Look at it before you start your workday, so that you can keep practicing returning to the higher meaning within each day.

You might occasionally revise your written philosophy. Keep it fresh. Try different ways of rephrasing your Truth. Describe it in a way that helps you to reconnect to the greatest meaning of every moment.

The higher context I see for every piece of “hard” work that I'm faced with is to practice reconnecting with my core philosophy, and therefore, bringing gratitude, trust, and joy into this moment.

I frequently do my energy reboot to replace any negativity with positivity. I touch my heart, and I smile :)

Layer your “highest work” — the effort of bringing higher meaning — into everything you do.

It's not about that project in front of you.

The higher meaning of this moment has far greater importance.

Any task, any moment, can therefore be deeply enjoyed.
